Safeguarding

A word from Ms Kler, Waverley Education Foundation Director of Safeguarding

Safeguarding across Waverley Education Foundation is taken extremely seriously and is pivotal to everything that we do.

It is of paramount importance to us at Waverley Education Foundation that all of our pupils are kept safe from harm, and our staff is committed to ensuring that any concern about a pupil’s welfare is dealt with appropriately in a timely manner as per our Safeguarding and Child Protection policy and Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance.

We ensure that all of our staff receives regular training, including Prevent and Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance, and updates on safeguarding and child protection issues. Clear procedures are in place for when concerns are identified.

All applicants for employment at Waverley Education Foundation will be fully vetted in accordance with DFE guidelines for safer recruitment.

Pupils across Waverley Education Foundation are taught about safeguarding topics and how to keep themselves safe. All pupils and parents can talk to a member of the safeguarding team should they have any concerns.

Safeguarding Policy Statement

Waverley Education Foundation is committed to keeping our students safe, both in school and the wider community. As part of our safeguarding arrangements, we have a two-way information sharing agreement in place with West Midlands Police, and we are also active members of our local constituency Police & Schools Panel.

The agreement is compliant with Crime & Disorder Act 1998, Data Protection Act 2018 – 2021 Update and United Kingdom General Data Protection Regulation (UK-GDPR); and focuses on preventing young people from becoming involved, or further involved, in crime and anti-social behaviour (as either a victim or offender) or those who have been reported as missing that may be vulnerable as a result.

This joint approach helps us to intervene early; provide additional support, and share up-to-date safety messages with students and their families/carers. If you have any queries about the partnership policy, please contact Ms Kler, Director of Safeguarding.
