You can browse detailed information about the PGCE route we offer in your subject/phase on the Find postgraduate teacher training programme portal. Please get in touch if you have a query or to discuss your application, no question is too silly to ask!

Making an application
Once you have decided to apply to a Waverley School Direct programme, please do think about spending a day in a school before applying if you have not done so already. We will help with this through Get School Experience, just one day will support you enormously in writing an effective personal statement and demonstrating your best potential at interview. But this is not compulsory.
Perfect your personal statement – see the Eligibility section to see what we are looking for. We want to see a passion for teaching (and your subject, if secondary), commitment and a genuine interest in young people. Get someone else to check what you have written for accuracy and clarity.
Liaise with your referees so they are ready to upload references when you need them to – we cannot see your application until both references have been received. If you are a university student, one reference must be from a tutor who can comment on expected grades. The best referees will be able to comment on your potential for teaching, so if you have worked in a school please ask the Headteacher to give you a reference. All referees should give a workplace email address, we cannot accept references from family or friends.
You can apply for all our programmes via UCAS Teacher Training website, though we will also be participating in the new DfE Apply service as it rolls out later in 2020.
If you have any questions or need help, please ask! Contact details are at the top of this page.
