Ms Satnam Dosanjh

Director of Learning – Primary

Leadership L6 – L10 Pay Scale

January 2022

Waverley School became an all-through school in September 2012.  At Waverley we create an environment which allows everyone to develop mutual respect for each other and a respect for learning.

This is an exciting time to join Waverley Education Foundation Trust. We have landmark buildings equipped with state of the art and design technology facilities for teaching, learning and training. As part of the exciting growth plans for the Trust, we are expanding our team to meet future requirements.

We are looking to recruit an inspirational and passionate Director of Learning for our Primary phase with experience of leading the curriculum including a core subject. The position will have a part time teaching commitment and the successful candidate will be trained to become a designated safeguarding lead.

This is an excellent opportunity for further professional development and to play a significant leadership role in continuing to raise standards.

This is a demanding role that will require:

  • an unrelenting focus on high standards and excellence for pupils supported by high-quality curriculum
  • ability to use assessment data to monitor pupil progress and implement appropriate interventions to raise standards
  • an absolute focus on the quality of teaching and learning
  • a commitment to developing further the strong ethos of the school and HEAR values

As Director of Learning you will be expected to lead key year groups and work closely with the Principal and leadership team to influence progress and standards, challenge under-performance and develop a clear strategic direction for the curriculum within the Primary phase and wider Trust.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent track record of teaching and student progress within a successful primary school and ideally previous leadership experience of a Primary phase.   They will be expected to provide outstanding lessons to ensure excellence and achievement for all learners, with a true commitment to raising standards.   You will need to have experience of using a variety of approaches to continually enhance teaching and learning throughout the school across the full age and ability range.   You will also need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to forge strong working relationships within the Primary team and the Trust as a whole. We are looking for someone with the skills, abilities and drive to lead and direct team and make a real difference to the Primary Phase.

In return we can offer you:

  • A unique opportunity to be a part of an ambitious ‘through school’ with an inclusive ethos.
  • Fantastic children who are a delight to teach and who enjoy learning.
  • A supportive working environment with a range of opportunities for professional development.

The successful candidate will need to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post and will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or religion. Only applications submitted on the schools application form will be accepted.

Waverley School is committed to the protection and safety of its students.

The school’s most recent inspection report, Ofsted (November 2021) commented that ‘Pupils are happy to come to this school…. and the curriculum is ambitiously designed to stretch pupils regardless of their starting point.’
